I was commissioned to paint a portrait of their cherished Springer Spaniel, Willow. When it comes to my acrylic paintings, I find that Ampersand Gessobords are the perfect choice. Not only are they crafted with meticulous care, but they also have the added benefit of being of archival quality. They are available in a 22mm deep canvas option, perfect for those who prefer to display their artwork without a frame.

While the original reference photo was undoubtedly stunning, I didn't want to replicate the image. My goal was to enhance the design and create something unique. The beauty of acrylic paintings lies in their distinctive nature. The intricate brushstrokes give each portrait a unique character and depth.

At the early stages of the painting. Dark contrasts are added to help achieve the depth, before the fine details are then added.
Once the painting is complete, it is coated with varnish. Additionally, felt protectors are attached to prevent the edges of the artwork from coming into contact with the wall.
