Rachel entrusted me with painting a portrait of her parents' adorable Chow Chow dog as a memorable Christmas gift for her mother. Utilising the excellent photos of Star that Rachel provided, I was able to craft a composition for the painting that fully satisfied the customer. The reference photo was large, allowing me to zoom in on the thick fur and capture all of the fine details. This was crucial for working on a large 16" x 20" painting.​

I had the opportunity to select the background and foreground for the picture, and I took my time to ensure that every aspect of the image was harmonious. Ultimately, I decided on a serene skyline with warm hues ensuring it was subtle yet impactful. For the foreground, I chose a lush patch of grass that would provide a soft and comfortable surface for Star to rest on. I wanted to highlight the fluffy texture of Star's fur and the adorable features of his face without overwhelming the viewer with too much information. After all, the goal was to create a piece that would capture the essence and personality of Star, not distract from it.

The Chow Chow painting is treated with a protective varnish and carefully prepared for shipping. As framing was not requested, I ensured the painting was safely packed for its journey. An after-care sheet and a certificate of authenticity are included with each painting, assuring that it is genuine.
