Hi Karen,
I'm enquiring if I can commission a portrait of my son ' Matthew' . Sadly he passed 1 & half years ago. I have one photo which I hope is useable as it's one of the last pics we took in the holidays. I have more pics for reference if required. If this photo is suitable for acrylics we will go ahead and choose a size and frame etc.

Matthew's Mum and dad booked this portrait as a special tribute to their son who sadly passed away in 2019. This composition shows Matthew at Belsay Gardens, in Northumberland, UK. They selected this image for the reference image as it was one of the last holiday photos they took of him.

Robert had provided me with a reference image of exceptional quality. The single, large digital image allowed me to zoom in and carefully capture all the intricate details, ensuring that the resulting painting of Matthew was of the same quality as found in the reference image. A large format digital file is highly appreciated when requesting a portrait, as the detail is a must, particularly when it is a large painting, as this was.
Adding the fine detail to the facial features. This can be a very long journey.
I have added two short but informative videos that demonstrate the structure of Matthew's acrylic painting. The first video provides a glimpse into the initial stages of the painting, where the foundation is laid with dark base tones. I then skillfully apply multiple layers of translucent colours on top, creating a blend of hues that brings the painting to life. The second video showcases the completed painting, which, although it may appear less colourful and detailed due to low lighting, still captures the intricate details and nuances. I hope you enjoy watching these videos and gain a better understanding of the detail that goes into my art.

After finishing the painting, I applied a coat of varnish. A frame was included with the order of the painting, and a giclee print was bought for his grandma as well.
