This portrait was created in graphite pencil for a couple who were married at Wynyard Hall in September 2013. They were looking for something special as a keepsake of their day. The drawing had an extra wide mount placed in during the framing so their guests could sign it on the day of the wedding. What a wonderful idea!
For certain projects that require the use of reference photographs sourced online, permission must be given by the photographer before commencement as EVERY photograph has a copyright attached. As I was unable to source my own reference images for this commission, I contacted Wynyard Hall, who allowed free and full use of one of their own photos for the portrait.

THE FINISHED PORTRAIT
CREATING THE PORTRAIT:There were little changes made to the original photograph as it was being produced 'as seen' and luckily the image I received of the original reference photo from Wynyard Hall was a large file and I was able to zoom in to the image to get all the detail I needed. Turning a coloured photograph into a black & white one for use as the reference image in artwork is not as simple as it may appear as this process dulls or even removes some of the shadows, so I had to work from the coloured image as well as the adapted grey tone one.I decided to completely remove the trees from the left of the image and minimise the trees to the right so these would not take away from the main subject.

ADDITIONS TO THE ORDER:As the customer was collecting the portrait, framing was arranged. A basic black frame and double mount was chosen for the Artwork and to complete the over all look, a silver plaque was also ordered. The plaque was adhered to the light grey under mount and the top mount had a window cut out to protect the plaque.

COLLECTION OF THE PORTRAIT:As the Commission was placed a few weeks before the 'Big Day', time was of the essence. The customer decided to travel from Manchester to Chesterfield and collect it from my local framer 'Brampton Picture framing'. The guys at BPF completed the framing in a very short space of time. I was able to view the framed portrait and took some photographs before the customer picked it up the next day.
