Trixie was an RSPCA rescue dog. We got her in 2009 just after we had lost our old dog Cindy. My Mum chose her, but as she was ill at the time, she became a Daddy's girl. When my Mum passed away late 2010, Trixie and my Dad became so close. She would cry whenever he left her and literally followed my Dad everywhere, even sitting on the river bank in all weather with him when he went fishing. This image was typical, sat on his knee as close as can be. Trixie sadly and suddenly passed away, leaving my dad absolutely heartbroken. This portrait was gifted to him as a Christmas gift. I captured this photo of Trixie and my Dad one christmas and felt this embodied the closeness they shared with one another, so decided to turn it into a portrait, slightly changing the colour and contrast in areas somewhat spoilt by the use of flash on the camera. I gifted this drawing to my dad christmas 2019, the video is provided below.
