As an artist, I have worked with Lynda multiple times to create portraits of her cherished dogs. Lynda contacted me to commission a drawing of her beloved Chihuahua/Shih Tzu dog, Sully. The chosen image perfectly captures Sully's delightful character and appearance.. The wooden surface he stands on matches the previous illustrations I have created for Lynda.
When creating a small-sized portrait featuring a full-body pose, capturing all the small details, particularly on the face can be challenging. Opting for full-body stances for portraits that are 11" x 14" and larger is generally recommended. However, Sully's stance had more vertical perspectives than horizontal ones, which was a good fit. Lynda supervised the progress and suggested changes, like lightening the pinkness around Sully's left eye, as it seemed brighter in the reference image than in real life. Making these adjustments during the process is more feasible than waiting until the end.
I have uploaded three time-lapse videos that showcase the creation process of my coloured pencil drawings. Although each video only lasts a few seconds, each is a sped-up version of over an hour of work. I hope you find these videos enjoyable and gain a better appreciation of the intricate details involved in my art.

All my coloured pencil artworks are sold without frames to ensure they arrive undamaged during shipping. In the photo attached, Lynda kindly shared how she chose to frame Sully's portrait upon its arrival. She selected a frame that complemented the style of her other pencil portraits that I've enjoyed creating for her over the years. You can view the portraits by clicking the bar below.
