How to Pay for Your Portrait or Commission
Bank Transfer (UK Only) Bank transfer is a simple and reliable way to pay for your portrait. I will provide my bank details and a reference number to use alongside your payment, helping me track it efficiently. Payment must be completed before your portrait is posted or collected. Once I’ve received the payment in my account, I will send you an email confirmation. Please double-check all bank details before completing the transfer to ensure accuracy.
Credit & Debit Cards via Paypal (No account needed)
This payment option is available for both UK and international orders. PayPal is one of the safest payment options for transactions worldwide, and you don't need to have a PayPal account to make your payment. The entire process is encrypted for added peace of mind, and your card information is never shared with me. I will send an invoice directly to your preferred email address, allowing you to safely input your card details via a secure online platform.
Cheques & Cash (UK Only) Cheques are also accepted and should be made payable to Karen M Berisford. For final balances, payments must be received at least 10 days prior to the portrait being posted or collected, allowing enough time for the cheque to clear. Please note that longer clearance times may apply during holiday periods. If you’re collecting your completed portrait in person, you can pay the final balance in cash on the collection day. Please contact me beforehand to arrange a convenient date and time. Only UK notes and coins are accepted. I will provide an invoice with your payment.
Deliveries & Delivery Restrictions (GDPR)
UK Deliveries:
Unframed portraits are delivered free of charge within the UK. Each portrait is sent via 24-hour Special Delivery (Monday to Thursday, excluding Sundays). If you require a next day weekend delivery (Saturdays only), an additional charge will apply, based on the size and weight of the package. If needed, please contact me for a quote.
International Deliveries:
For deliveries outside the UK, Framed and unframed portraits are shipped with a charge, depending on size. Delivery typically takes 5–7 working days. If you require expedited delivery, I am happy to provide a quote upon request. Please note that international customers are responsible for any additional charges that may arise, such as customs duties, taxes, or excise fees.
European Union & Northern Ireland Customers:
I deeply regret that I am currently unable to fulfil orders to the EU or Northern Ireland. This limitation is due to GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), which require appointing a 'responsible person' to handle sales—a process that involves costs beyond my current resources. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and hope to revisit this restriction in the future.
Postage & Tracking Information:
Once the artwork is complete, it will be securely packaged and dispatched through a trusted delivery service. A tracking reference will be provided so you can monitor your parcel’s progress. For international deliveries or in case of delays, this tracking number will be particularly useful. Upon receiving your artwork, please inspect the parcel for any damage before signing for it. I would be greatly appreciated to know that your portrait arrived safely and share feedback or a testimonial, so I can add it to your progress page.
Framing with Glass: Important Information
Coloured pencil portraits: Please note that delivery companies do not insure glass in framed artwork. For this reason, I do not offer framing for my pencil portraits. Taking your portrait to a local framer is the most reliable option to ensure safe handling and display.
Acrylic paintings, which are framed without glass, are carefully packaged to the highest standard to prevent damage. If you choose to have your acrylic painting framed, this service is completed in-house, and the packaging is intentionally large and sturdy to minimise risks during transit. However, please be aware that framing is offered at your own risk and incurs additional postal charges due to the extra size and weight of the package. Feel free to browse the available frames on my FRAMING page and contact me for more details if you would like your portrait framed.

Refund Policy
Before posting, you’ll have the opportunity to approve your completed commission. A final image will be uploaded to your individual progress page, or I can email you a proof copy upon request. If any changes are needed, please inform me before the artwork is dispatched. Once received, any costs to return the piece for adjustments will be your responsibility unless you are returning it due to damage in transit. The artwork will only be sent out when I receive your approval of the final piece.
For purchases through my shop, if, upon receiving the artwork, you decide you no longer want it, you may return it in its original packaging at your own expense. providing there is no damage to the artwork, I will refund you in full for the price of the painting.
