Jack Russell Dog | Coloured Pencil Drawing
CASEY
Portrait size: 10" x 12"
Completed: December 2015
This page provides a detailed analysis of a coloured pencil dog portrait featuring a Jack Russell terrier named Casey.
Casey had sadly passed a few weeks before and this portrait was gifted by mutual friends of Casey's mum, via Facebook. Lynda, who lives in the USA, followed progress of the portrait on this page. He arrived home on Boxing Day. This beautiful composition was the perfect choice to immortalise, looking at his loved ones every day.

When I receive a request for a pet portrait, I ask the client to provide their favorite photo of their pet, along with several additional images for reference. This particular photo was one of Lynda's favorites of Casey, making it an excellent choice for the portrait. The floorboards depicted in this portrait were replicated in subsequent works to ensure consistency when displayed together.
It is not unusual to be asked to remove elements from portraits, and I also welcome suggestions for additions, as was the case in this instance. In the photograph, Casey was depicted with a lead and a large metal clip, which appeared cumbersome. It was decided to exclude these items from the portrait and instead incorporate a name tag that had been gifted to Casey's owner as a memorial following his passing. Both modifications were straightforward to implement, and the final portrait turned out beautifully. Lynda was very happy!
Customer Testimonial" Casey is framed and on the wall! Every day I am more and more amazed at how Karen saw every detail that was important to me, and then put it perfectly to paper. From the little scar he got while filching a treat from a friend, to the little wrinkle lines on his nose (which incidentally are what made me fall in love with him at 8 weeks old), she captured them perfectly. And the feet! His feet were my weakness. And she got them perfectly! Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart! "

Coloured pencil portraits completed for Lynda
I have had the pleasure of working with Lynda in the past, creating beautiful portraits of her beloved dogs. I always emphasise the importance of selecting a photo that accurately reflects the unique personality of one's cherished pet, as the portrait will serve as a treasured keepsake for years to come. Below are the portraits of the coloured pencil drawings of her dogs, both past and present, that I have completed over the years. The most recent one is Sully, which was completed in 2022.
