Getting good photos for use as reference can be tricky. If I am able to meet the subject and take my own photos with my SLR camera, I am able to get a selection of large and detailed photos, which may be suitable for use. That all depends on the subject, though. People are easy to photograph due to communication, animals on the other hand will do whatever they want much of the time. Even when trained, dogs can become bored quickly or easily distracted. Ideally, a photo of your pet looking at the camera is usually the best option, but Dave was restless and as I was a stranger, he was not interested in me shouting his name. Here are a few photos from the photoshoot that could have made a good drawing too.
