Cresswell Pond & Druridge Pools Nature Reserves

After having spent a hectic week back in Chesterfield (my old home town) to run my Coloured pencil 'Pet portrait' Workshop which ran on the 9th of May (2015) and catching up with family and friends too, once back home in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, I decided to take a rare day off from work to recuperate and myself and my partner John Graham, decided to head out on the bikes with our camera's to hopefully capture some new reference material and simply enjoy Mother Nature in all her glory! We headed off up the coastal road through Cresswell stopping off at Cresswell Pond to spend some time in their hide looking out at the waders and ending up at Druridge Pools who also has a few hides dotted around their lake too. A 20 mile round trip gathering such great photos were totally worth sore bottoms the next day!!

There is nothing quite like getting out in to the thick of Nature, capturing my own photographs to use in my work and this is as important to me as the quality of the products I use. I hope I am able to portray that rawness and soul of the moment the subject was captured understanding the surroundings and even the weather conditions at the time are just as important. There is nothing quite like seeing Wildlife being wild and allowing us to take a peek into their life is the greatest honour!

Art Tutoring Website Update

I began my own Art Group in 2011 when I lived in Chesterfield and my website www.chesterfieldartsgroup.co.uk was created simply as an advertising tool for this Art Group - over the last few years, as my tutoring has adapted, the website also needed to keep up with these changes and the website was renamed www.stepbystepart.co.uk in keeping with the way that I tutor at my Workshops. I recreated my website to offer help and advice to Artists from all walks of life whether an Amateur or professional - why not take a look.....

My Workshops website has now been adapted to offer a universal website for Artists all over the world who can access information on a variety of Art. I have always enjoyed sharing my own Artistic knowledge on a wide range of things from how to produce a pencil portrait to product recommendations that I have tried & tested myself. I hope to bring on board other Artists knowledge too, offering further Articles not just based on mediums I work with myself which limits the market considerably but Articles from Artists working on other mediums that I could learn a lot from myself.

Great News!!
After spending many years living and working by myself, I am pleased to share the wonderful news that on the 15th of May 2014, I will be moving up to Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland to live with my partner and fellow Artist, John Graham.

We will both continue to offer private Commissions as we always have done within the UK and beyond and my current 1 Day Workshops in Chesterfield will still continue 4 times a year as I will be travelling back to my home town to continue these, however, I am pleased to say that I will also be running 1 Day Workshops in Newbiggin by the Sea too from 2015 further details will follow on my Workshops later on in the year.

As John is a fully qualified Joiner, he is currently in the process of designing our new studio in his spare room which will see us both have our own large working space, with lots more room to put all our Art products combined and will continue to offer the very best quality work that we both always strive to produce.
