Created using graphite pencils, this portrait commemorates a couple’s wedding at Wynyard Hall in September 2013. Seeking a unique memento for their special day, they opted for a drawing with an extra-wide mount for guests to sign on their special day.
For projects necessitating online reference photos, it’s crucial to obtain the photographer’s permission due to copyright laws. Unable to source my own images for this commission, I secured Wynyard Hall’s consent to use one of their photos.

The Final Drawing
About the drawing:The original photograph was produced unaltered, and only minor adjustments were made. Fortuitously, I received a high-resolution file of the original reference photo from Wynyard Hall, allowing me to zoom in and capture the necessary details. Converting a coloured photograph into a black and white image for use as a reference in artwork is not an easy task. This is because the process often results in shadows becoming dull or disappearing entirely. To ensure that the primary subject remained the focus, I removed the trees on the left of the picture and minimised those on the right.

ADDITIONS TO THE ORDER:As the customer was collecting the portrait, framing was arranged. A basic black frame and double mount was chosen for the Artwork and to complete the over all look, a silver plaque was also ordered. The plaque was adhered to the light grey under mount and the top mount had a window cut out to protect the plaque.

COLLECTION OF THE PORTRAIT:As the commission was placed a few weeks before the 'Big Day', time was of the essence. The customer decided to travel from Manchester to Chesterfield and collect it from my local framer 'Brampton Picture framing'. The guys at BPF completed the framing in a very short space of time. I was able to view the framed portrait and took some photographs before the customer picked it up the next day.
