This is how the piece began. Sometimes I have no idea how the background is going to turn out and just let the piece shape itself, this is exactly what happened with this one!

Every single strand of fur is added by using a long, fine brush. The process takes many hours but is worth it for the finished product.

Lion produced in Pastels

GMTV aired an appeal on behalf of Born Free to help release 3 Lions that had been used for breeding within a Circus for many years in a French Zoo. They had been kept in a cage 6ft x 6ft with the doors welded shut!
The rescue needed £30,000 to get the Lions out and transport them to a Nature Reserve in South Africa.

I was so touched by this story that I decided to sell this piece of Artwork as a small gesture towards the plight.
