Star sadly passed away a few weeks ago, age 3 and a half and her owner approached me to produce an ever lasting portrait of her. As soon as I saw her favourite photo of Star, I decided the best way to portray her would be to centralise around her beautiful face and big eyes and as this created a square frame, an irregular portrait size of a 10" x 10" was selected.
MEDIUM: Coloured Pencils
CREATING THE PORTRAIT:
I was provided with a few photos of Star, and as always, I ask for the commissionee to pick out their favourite image of their Pet or portrait and this is the one that was selected. It is a brilliant composition for a portrait but as an indoor photo, they tend to mask natural colouration and so the lady sent me some outdoor photos of Star too so I could see her natural colour. I also look online to find the exact breed which I believe from her colouration, she is classed as a Cream Pomeranian and use other images for reference whenever detail is lacking.
